Eurasico

Eurasico ("You're a sicko") started when Jeff found a cheap fare from Helsinki to Singapore. Many frequent flyer miles, hotel points, emails and phone calls later, we had cobbled together a three week, multi-country adventure that couldn't be more random in its itinerary...SFO-SEA-FRA-HEL-AMS-SIN-DPS-SIN-AMS-HEL-VNO-FRA-MEX-SFO/MSP. To start at the beginning, scroll down to the end, and work your way up.

Crouching Scarlet, Hidden Passport

We're off to a great start. We caught an earlier flight up to Seattle, instead of arriving at 12:15a, which was our original itinerary. Jeff was nervous about getting out of MSP on time because of crazy winds, so he hustled out to the airport to try to catch the 2:40p to SFO, but not before realizing he'd left his passport at his house just seconds before boarding the bus to the light rail station. After dodging that bullet, he ended up calling a cab, and still got a last minute seat on the early flight (yes, in first class) after the agent had just announced "sorry, no more standbys, folks". She obviously meant everyone except Jeff. ; ) His original flight ended up being delayed by nearly three hours, so it's possible we wouldn't have even made it to Seattle tonight if Jeff hadn't made this earlier flight out of MSP.

I ordered pizza at 4:30p, which seemed weird, but I had a feeling we might be leaving earlier than planned, and i wanted to have time to have a meal with Seamus, and spend a little time with Scarlet, who came home from an unplanned overnight at the vet. She had a bacterial infection that was causing major distress to her intestines and needed antibiotics and fluids. She seemed happy to be home, but still pretty wiped out.

So the earlier SFO-SEA flight ended up taking off an hour late, but that was just fine, as it gave Jeff and I a little time to sit, say hello, and load our bags with snacks in the Red Carpet Club. Later at the gate, the agent apologized for not having first class seats to put us in, even though we were not seated in first class on this leg. He gave us two economy plus seats together, in row 6. As standbys, i assumed we'd get separate middle seats in the back, so i was pleasantly surprised. We also didn't pay any standby fee.

The flight itself was uneventful. I think a traveling cat busted out of her little carrier and got loose on the plane, but i only caught a glimpse of the drama, which seemed to be minor and short lived. I didn't get involved.
