24 hours in Helsinki...
So the Frankfurt-Helsinki flight was not visually documented, because, well, it kind of sucked. After our great service and lounge experience getting to Frankfurt, the Inter-Europe business class shook us back to reality a little. We had crying babies, a sort of gross, pull back the foil meal, and quite frankly, a few too many mysterious fart clouds to contend with.
We arrived in Helsinki without incident, and escaped from the airport pretty easily, catching a FinnAir City bus into town for just 6 euro.
The first day after an international flight is always a bit hazy, and today was no different. We decided to rally and not fall into the trap of going right to sleep, even though that sounded pretty good. So we wondered down to the waterfront, just in time to stumble onto a ceremony in full swing, honoring the 18th century Swedish ship, Gotheborg, which has taken to the seas again and was docked in Helsinki harbor.

There were lots of speeches, and people in period costume. It was all very confusing, and amusing.

After all the rich food from our flight, i was craving something simple, like a salad. and I swear, we did eat salads at this place. I think we just like photographing desserts better. This meringue was crunchy and then chewy, but delicious the whole time. The ginger cake wasn't too shabby either.

Now we were officially ready to collapse.
